California is one of the states in the U.S. that use the Pacific Standard Time (PST).This time zone is usually referred to as Pacific Time Zone (PT) in the United States and Canada. The PST is used in the late autumn to early spring when observing standard time. Pacific Daylight time (PDT) is used in the early spring to late autumn when observing daylight saving time.

The PT is the generalized time zone in California with an offset of UTC -8:00 / -7:00. There are other cities such as Los Angeles uses the Pacific Daylight Time with an offset of UTC -7:00. The Pacific Standard Time is one of the time zones that are not being observed in California currently. However, it is likely to commence on 5th November 2017.

PST is usually operational during other parts of the year. It is expected to become active after the next click change when the Daylight Saving Time is commencing or coming to an end. California is said to have observed the DST for the first time in 1918. The primary reason why most towns observe the Pacific Time is because they have a strong connection with Stewart, British Columbia a region in the Pacific Time Zone.
