Formula of converting octal to decimal

A regular decimal number is determined by the multiplying the sum of the digits with 10n.

Example

126 in base 10 is calculated by multiplying each digit with its corresponding 10n.

12610 = 1 x 102 + 2 x 101 + 6 x 100 = 100 +20 + 6

Although a similar way is used to read the octal numbers, every digit counts 8n instead of 10n. Each digit of the hex number is then multiplied by its corresponding 8n. You get accurate results in lesser time.
