Solution;Enter 5 and 7 in the first and second text fields respectively before clicking on the ‘Calculate’ button.
The percentage change result = 40%
Calculation [(7-5) / 5] x 100% = 0.4 x 100% = 40%
Formula of calculating the percentage changePercentage Change = (V new – V old) / V old x 100%, which means that they percentage change from the old to new value is computed by; the difference between the new and old values which is divided by the old value. The result is then multiplied by 100 percent.
For exampleDetermine the percentage increase from $1500 to $2500.
SolutionInitial Value = 1500
Final value = 2500
Percentage change = (2500 - 1500) / 1500 x 100%
= 1000/1500 x 100%
=0.666 x 100%
You can always repeat the same procedure with other new values after clearing the previous calculations using the ‘Reset’ button.
