Amps to Watts Calculator

Amperes to Watts Conversion Calculator

Select current type:
Enter current in amps: A
Enter voltage in volts: V

Power result in watts: W

It is a conversion calculator which transforms the electric current in Amps to electrical energy in Watts. It has three text fields which help in determining the exact units you require after the conversion.

The first text field requires you to select the current type. It can either be direct current, denoted as (DC) or alternating current (AC). The second cell requires you to fill in the current in amps (A), and then the voltage in volts (V) which is entered in the last text field.

The Amps to Watts Converter has two active buttons which allow you to carry out the calculation. You can click on the calculate button after filling all the required text fields. It acts as a switch that performs the computation within a single click. The reset button is useful especially when you need to convert new units. It erases everything in the text fields to create space for other conversions.

Below the Calculate and Reset buttons is a platform which shows the power results in Watts (W).

It is simple to use this type of converter since it only requires you to fill in the current units in the required fields. It is also important for you to know the kind of current you would like to convert so that the calculation can be accurate. You have the option to switch between DC and Ac before entering the current in amps.

There are three ways in which the converter performs its calculations;

Computation of Direct Current (DC) Amps to Watts
P (W) = I (A) x V (V), which means that the power in Watts is calculated by multiplying the current in Amps (A) by the voltage in volts (V)

Calculation of Alternating Current (AC) single phase Amps to Watts
P (W) = PF x I (A) x V (V) , which means that the power in watts is calculated by the power factor multiplied by the phase current in Amps (A) times The Voltage RMS in volts (V)

Calculation of Alternating Current (AC) three phase Amps to Watts

There are two ways in which the calculation can be performed

Line to line voltage calculation
P (W) =√3 x PF x I(A) x V L-L (V), which means that the power in watts is equal to the square root of three multiplied by the power factor by the phase current in amperes times the line to line voltage of RMS in volts (V)

Line to neutral voltage calculation
P (W) = 3 x PF x I (A) x V L-N (V), which means that the power in watts is calculated by three multiplied by the power factor times the phase current in amps by the line to neutral voltage of RMS in Volts (V).

This calculator has led to easier conversions from Amps to Watts. It is fast and delivers accurate information according to the input.
